The Quropeco is one of the first bigger wyverns you will be tasked to hunt. Here is one in the desert region of MH3U on November 29, 2013. Screen shot By Brad Moffett.
Hello and welcome to our final lesson hunters. Today's lesson will be on the trickster, Quropeco. We'll be covering the same materials as in the other lessons.
The Quropeco is a member of the bird wyvern family. They are brightly colored with yellow underbellies, green wings with indigo forlimbs, and a red paddle like tail.
Quropeco rely on their ability to imitate other monster's calls for in combat. They pocess a large toothed beak that is cabable of mimicing any other wyvern species call. When engaged in combat, they call for help bringing in a plethera of other monsters to their aid, then they will perfom other calls that heal or boost the abilities of themselves and their allies.
Quropeco are often regarded as easy marks and are underestimated in high rank hunts. In low level hunts they are easy to take down but this leads to underestimating them later down the line. The trick to taking down Quropeco is to hit them hard and fast before they can call for help, especially if you know what other wyverns, such as Deviljho, are in the area.
That does it for today's lesson. This is to be the last post on the hunting board, but you may want to check back every once in awhile because I might sneak a few more posts in to keep you informed. Thanks for coming and hunt on.

Duramboros, The Living Mountain
The first hunt that sends you after a Duramboros is also the
one where you meet your second hunting shakalaka companion, Kayamba. At the
start of the hunt Kayamba (Left) finds himself faceing down a Duramboros
(Right). Screen shot taken on November 29, 2013 by Brad Moffett.
Hello and welcome back hunters. This week’s lesson is on the
giant Duramboros. We'll be covering the usual topics as always.
Duramboros are part of the brute wyvern family. They are brown
in coloration and covered with green moss from head to tail, they pocess ram
like horns on their heads and have cudgel like tails. They live in forest and
swampy areas.
Duramboros's fighting style is all about close combat and
using its size. They charge with their horns, bulldozing anything that gets in
their way. Duramboros's main weapon is their cudgel like tail. They will smash
it into the ground as well as spin around in a circle using their tail as a
wrecking ball. The spin attack often ends with Duramboros propelling itself
skyward and attempting to body slam its opponent.
Hunting a Duramboros is a war of attrition. Duramboros are
very resilient to damage and can take large amounts of damage compared to other
wyverns but they do have a specific weak point, their humps.. If one is worn
down enough it will trip up and fall over when attempting to spin attack, this
leaves the humps on its back open for attack. Also a rightly time flash bomb
will also make Duramboros take a dive during its spin attack.
That about covers all you need to know about Duramboros.
Come back next time for the final lesson, hunting the trickster Quropeco.

Lagiacrus, The Lightning of The Seas
The hunt "Fell The Lagiacrus" is the first quest that task you with slaying a Lagiacrus in MH3U. Here I am taking a break after delivering the final blow to Lagiacrus in an underwater struggle on November 17, 2013. Screenshot Taken By Brad Moffett
Welcome back hunters! This week we'll be discussing the leviathan wyvern, Lagiacrus. We will be going over their characteristics, fighting style, and hunting methods.
Lagiacrus are a member of the leviathan family of wyverns. They are blue in color with white underbellies and have long, serpentine bodies. They live in coastal areas and are amphibious, traveling onto land to search for prey though they never stray to far from water. They are capable of generating electricity which they store in hornlike protrusions on they're backs. Lagiacrus use this electricity in combat by either discharging it around their bodies or spewing electric blasts from they're mouths.
Lagiacrus fighting abilities change based on where it is engaged. On land they slide into foes bulldozing them, lash out with their long tails, or throw blasts of electricity. In water, Lagiacrus is in it's element, they will bulldoze foes by swimming into them cloaked with electricity, discharge electricity around their bodies, lash out with fang, claw, tail, and fire blasts of electricity.
Hunting a Lagiacrus is a test of a hunters skill. Lagiacrus are more vulnerable on land so it is best to go on the offensive when they are on land. In the water watch for openings to attack but be wary of the leviathan's body language because it often telegraphs its more devastating attacks.
Hopefully with this knowledge you'll be ready to go bag you're own Lagiacrus. Next week we will go over felling a walking mountain, Duramboros. Till then be safe and hunt on!

The Explosive Brachydios
The hunt "Brachydios" Means Trouble, is the first appearance of Brachydios in MH3U. Here I am posing after slaying the Brachydios for the hunt on November 11, 2013. Screenshot Taken By Brad Moffett
Hello and welcome back hunters! This week's lesson will be on the brute wyvern, Brachydios. We will go over the characteristics, fighting style, and ecology of Brachydios.
Brachydios is a member of the brute wyvern family, brute wyverns are bipedal wyverns that prefer to pummel their prey with blunt, specialized body parts. Brachydios are azure in color with a green explosive slime that covers their forarms and horn. This slime comes from their mouth and explodes a few seconds after it leves contact with Brachydios's body.
Brachydios use this slime in battle, often times leaving pools of it on the ground after pounding attacks or throwing out explosive blast from their horn. They are surprisingly nimble for their size and will jump around in combat swinging away with their pounder forarms. If you're hit by Brachydios you will be coated in explosive slime, the best method of removing this slime is by rolling repeatively.
Brachydios live in volcanic regions. There they prey on Rhenopolos and other wyverns. They have been known to have territorial disputes with Agknaktor, a member of the leviathan wyvern family that also lives in volcanic regions.
That pretty much sums up Brachydios. Next lesson we will be covering Lagiacrus, a leviathan wyvern of the seas. Till next week be safe and hunt on.

The King of The Skies, Rathalos
November 2, 2013. Deserted Isle Region (Day), Quest: The Omen, in MH3U. Me hunting a Rathalos using a Dios Blade, flash bombs, and a pitfall trap. Video Taken By Brad Moffett.
Hello fellow hunters I have a treat for you today. Above you may notice a video, its todays lesson! Hunting one of the most iconic monsters in the Monster Hunter series, Rathalos. So sit back and enjoy watching a master hunter at work before reading the rest of the lesson.
Rathalos is a member of the flying wyvern family. Their most notably known for their crimson hide as well as being fiercely territorial, using flight, fireballs, and venomous talons to defend whats theirs. The female half of the species are emerald in color and go by the name of Rathian.
In the video, I demonstrate the use of two hunting tools, the flash bomb and pitfall trap. These items are easily made from gathering materials and subdue a monster for brief periods of time. A weak monster can be captured alive in a pitfall trap using tranq bombs. Be wary of using these items repeatitivly for monsters will be subdued for a lesser time each use.
Well thats about all I have for this week. Be sure to see me again next week where I will discuss how to bring down a Brachiodos, a brute wyvern that uses explosive slime and powerful pounders to pummel foe and prey alike.

Final weapon Post - Shooting Stuff To Look Tuff
Hello and welcome back hunters! In this weeks session we will be wrapping up the weapons of Monster Hunter lesson. This weeks weapons are for those of you who prefer to be a distance away from your quary, the gunner class weapons.
The gunner class of weapons consist of bows, light bow
guns, and heavy bow guns. Note that most ammo for bow guns and bows has to be either purchased or made by you. Also know that gunner weapons can't block.
The first class of weapons of the day is the bow class. Bows let you loose arrows or pellets at your quarry
and don’t impede your movement when drawn. They also allow you use phials to add effects to shots and amp your attack power.
Light bow guns have high rates of
fire but can’t shoot heavy duty ammo. The heavy bow guns are large and impede
movement but make up for it by being able to fire devastating shots. Bow guns can also be customized with different barrels, stocks, and scopes. These customizations will effect the weapons performance. One major customization is limiter removal, this option is only available to experienced hunters and allows your bow gun to loose powerful attacks at the cost of reloading speed.
I’ll let you decide which
weapon fits you best. Make sure to try a few classes before making your final
choice. Next post I will guide you in the ways of taking down one of the most
iconic monsters in Monster Hunter, the Rathalos.

Weapon Discussion Part 2 - Hacking, Whacking, Stabbing, and Playing
Welcome back my intreped hunters. This week we will be continueing the weapon classes of Monster Hunter lesson. This section will deal with switch axes, hammers, lances, gun lances, and hunting horns.
The switch axe class functions in a similar manner to great swords. The difference is that switch axes focus more on offense, dealing high damage with faster strikes than great swords. Switch axes also have the ability to be coated with phials, additives that give an added bonus such as more attack power or poison to the axe.
The hammer class weapons are, plainly put, large hammers. They have no blocking capability and hinder movement but make up for it by dealing large amounts of damage that can stun monsters easily. Hammers focus on charged heavy swings and heavy hits.
The lance and gun lance classes are very similiar in every way with the exception that gun lances allow you to fire bowgun ammo point blank into a monster at the end of an attack combo. Both allow you to turtle behind a shield while stabbing away at your quary. Lances do have a charging move however where gun lances allow you to aim and fire at monsters.
The last class of the todays lesson is the hunting horn class. These weapons resemble musical instruments that allow you play note combinations that will buff other hunters you are hunting with. You can smack a monster with the horn but your better off buffing your fellows.
That does it for todays weapon discussion. Join me again next week where we will cover light and heavy bowguns and bows. Till next time, be safe and hunt on.
