Final weapon Post - Shooting Stuff To Look Tuff

Hello and welcome back hunters! In this weeks session we will be wrapping up the weapons of Monster Hunter lesson. This weeks weapons are for  those of you who prefer to be a distance away from your quary, the gunner class weapons.

The gunner class of weapons consist of bows, light bow guns, and heavy bow guns. Note that most ammo for bow guns and bows has to be either purchased or made by you. Also know that gunner weapons can't block.
The first class of weapons of the day is the bow class. Bows let you loose arrows or pellets at your quarry and don’t impede your movement when drawn. They also allow you use phials to add effects to shots and amp your attack power.
Light bow guns have high rates of fire but can’t shoot heavy duty ammo. The heavy bow guns are large and impede movement but make up for it by being able to fire devastating shots. Bow guns can also be customized with different barrels, stocks, and scopes. These customizations will effect the weapons performance. One major customization is limiter removal, this option is only available to experienced hunters and allows your bow gun to loose powerful attacks at the cost of reloading speed.
I’ll let you decide which weapon fits you best. Make sure to try a few classes before making your final choice. Next post I will guide you in the ways of taking down one of the most iconic monsters in Monster Hunter, the Rathalos.

Weapon Discussion Part 2 - Hacking, Whacking, Stabbing, and Playing

Welcome back my intreped hunters. This week we will be continueing the weapon classes of Monster Hunter lesson. This section will deal with switch axes, hammers, lances, gun lances, and hunting horns.

The switch axe class functions in a similar manner to great swords. The difference is that switch axes focus more on offense, dealing high damage with faster strikes than great swords. Switch axes also have the ability to be coated with phials, additives that give an added bonus such as more attack power or poison to the axe.

The hammer class weapons are, plainly put, large hammers. They have no blocking capability and hinder movement but make up for it by dealing large amounts of damage that can stun monsters easily. Hammers focus on charged heavy swings  and heavy hits.

The lance and gun lance classes are very similiar in every way with the exception that gun lances allow you to fire bowgun ammo point blank into a monster at the end of an attack combo. Both allow you to turtle behind a shield while stabbing away at your quary. Lances do have a charging move however where gun lances allow you to aim and fire at monsters.

The last class of the todays lesson is the hunting horn class. These weapons resemble musical instruments that allow you play note combinations that will buff other hunters you are hunting with. You can smack a monster with the horn but your better off buffing your fellows.

That does it for todays weapon discussion. Join me again next week where we will cover light and heavy bowguns and bows. Till next time, be safe and hunt on.

Bladed Weapons and Explanations

Hello and welcome back my fellow hunters. Today's lesson is about the sword weapon classes of Monster Hunter. I will be breaking up the weapon class explanations into three seperate post for the sake of  possibly giving you information overload. Weapons are crucial to your hunting success and in some cases can be the deciding factor between success and failure in a hunt.

Also it would be helpful to note that weapon choice affects armor choice as well, as in shooting weapons require you to wear gunner armor and melee weapons require blademaster armor. There is also weapon sharpness to be aware of, it has varying levels and some monsters require high levels sharpness to pierce their hides.

We'l start with the basic sword shield combo, this class of weapon is pretty well balanced, allowing quick movement while the weapon is drawn and quick blocking ability. Next we have the great sword class, these massive blades deal large amounts of damage and double as shields, but movement is impaired when the blade is drawn as it is with all larger weapons. The katana class is made up of long, thin, two-handed blades that specialize in fast slices and charge attacks. The last of the sword classes are the dual blades, this class has a blade in each hand and deals massive amounts of damage by releasing a whirlwind of cuts upon your quary.

Answers and Armor

Hello and welcome back hunters! This weeks post will focus on answering questions in the comments and explain one of the most crucial elements of the monster hunter series, forging weapons and armor. Sadly, I do not possess any of the equipment for video capture so I cannot post actual videos of me hunting, I will try to post as many useful pictures as possible. The other question found in the comments leads us to today's topic, where did I get my armor?

Armor and weapons in Monster Hunter are primarly made by smithys with materials you carve from slain monsters or gather from the various regions found in the game. You can also buy armor and weapons from a merchant located by the smithy but the gear from these merchants is often way below the calibur of the gear you can forge and upgrade to at the smithy.

Each armor piece requires a certain number of materials as well as a number of those materials to be created and can be upgraded using armor spheres. Armor does not upgrade into new pieces, using armor spheres only increases that piece of armor's stats.

Weapons, like armor, require a certain number of materials and a certain number of those materials to be created. Weapons upgrade to weapons that may carry a new or similar appearance to the previous weapon depending on which material branch you choose to upgrade along.

With this knowledge you should be well on your way to being armed and armored. Next week besides answering questions, I will dwelve into the armory and talk about the weapons of Monster Hunter.
